How much does it cost, and how long does it take

A one way private transfer from Cancun International Airport to Tulum starts at $125 USD per vehicle to the town and Aldea Zama, and $145 USD per vehicle to the beach hotel zone. The drive is 119 kilometres down Highway 307 and takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to town, closer to 2 hours to the beach road.

Those prices are for the whole vehicle, not per person. Four passengers pay the same as one.

Add roughly $20 to $40 USD for the beach hotel zone, which is a further 20 to 25 minutes past the town along the beach road.

The drive itself

Highway 307 runs parallel to the coast from Cancun through Playa del Carmen, Akumal and on to Tulum. It is a good road, well maintained and mostly divided, with topes and speed cameras at the town entrances. Traffic near Playa del Carmen in the late afternoon is the usual delay.

Your chauffeur drives directly. No stop at a shop, no detour to a jewellery store, no timeshare presentation. If you want to stop for food or a cenote on the way, tell us when you book and we build it into the trip.

Why not a shuttle, a taxi or the ADO bus

Shared shuttle

Cheaper per person, but it leaves when the van is full and drops at several hotels before yours. Two hours can become three and a half.

Airport taxi

Available at the curb, but the fare to Tulum is often higher than a booked private transfer, and you negotiate it after a long flight with no way to compare.

ADO bus

The budget option, roughly 2 hours to the Tulum bus station, then a taxi to your hotel. It works if you are travelling light, alone and on a tight budget. With luggage, children or a beach hotel, the saving disappears at the second leg.

Private transfer

Fixed price for the vehicle, chauffeur waiting inside the terminal, direct to your door, and someone accountable if the flight is delayed.

Should you fly into Tulum airport instead

Tulum International Airport (TQO) opened in December 2023 and is 25 minutes from Aldea Zama, which removes most of this drive. If TQO has a convenient flight for you, take it. Cancun still has far more frequency and more direct international routes, which is why this remains the busiest route in the region. Arriving late at night

Plenty of flights land at Cancun after 10pm, which means arriving in Tulum close to midnight. This is exactly when improvising goes wrong: fewer taxis, no shuttle departures and a long dark highway. Our service runs 24 hours and a booked transfer costs the same at 1am as it does at noon.
